UCP Huntsville’s Flipping for the Future dollhouse renovation challenge, presented by Chanda Davis Real Estate and RHED Key Properties, LLC with “Moving on Up” Sponsorship by Murphy Homes, is under way!
We worked for 2 weeks coming up with ourMidcentury Modern Marvel! What a process it was!
The contract was written on Oct. 31st and we hit the ground running with thedesign process! We had our estimator run through the design selections once they were made and purchase orders were created!
We did find some water damage that had to be repaired before the foundation was repaired. Once the foundation was repaired we were ready to start installations! Roofing came first and then flooring. Check out that gorgeous flooring our designer, Cindy, picked out!
After the flooring, we had the custom furniture constructed. The bed in the master bedroom was custom made with bed-side tables - what's not to love about that!! The couch, chair and coffee table were also custom made to fit in the spacious living room. A couple of our favorite features are the fireplace and the spiral staircase. Both pieces were designed to be a focal point on the second story. The limestone in the fireplace was pulled out of an old midcentury style home built in 1962. We were also able to find the copper tiles, used on the risers & kitchen backsplash, from a vintage tile dealer in Italy. We feel these items make the dollhouse feel more original and fit the theme we were going for.
The paintings located in the bedroom & living room were commissioned with the specifics rooms in mind. We wanted something more natural and clean in the master bedroom. The painting in the living room was created with color and artistic creativity in mind - we let the artist run wild!
The kitchen cabinets were custom designed to create a streamlined look to the first floor. With only lower cabinets, the kitchen feels more open and clean. There is a shelf to hold spices for added storage. The venthood was also made with custom lighting in order to create a specific feel.
The bathroom was created with luxury in mind! With a large bathroom vanity comes great countertop space. We felt a gorgeous, custom chandelier would MAKE the space so be sure to look for that!
The landscaping came last! Can you believe the landscaping?! We picked some evergreen trees along with some colorful flowers to give the outdoor living space some color! We even made the driveway special - check out the stone. The stone was sourced from a local quarry in the Tennessee Valley.
